Meaning

The background-image property associates a background image with an element. Underlying content may show through transparent regions in the source image.

The background image requires a URL (absolute or relative) to link it to the source image specified with the url(image-file) syntax.

The default value is none and sets the background so that it doesn’t display an image.

Value Description
url The location of the image resource to be used as a background image.
none The default value. If specified, no background image will be displayed.
initial Sets this property to its default value.
inherit If specified, the associated element takes the computed value of its parent element animation-delay property.
revert Reverts the cascaded value of the property from its current value to the value the property
revert-layer Rollback styles to the ones specified in previous cascade layers.
unset Resets a property to its inherited value if the property naturally inherits from its parent, and to its initial value if not.
